POTASHCORP – AURORA EMPLOYEES ENTHUSIASTICALLY SUPPORT UNITED WAY CAMPAIGN
March 22, 2011
Each year, the Beaufort County United Way staff waits in anticipation for the results of their annual campaign. In 2011 employees of PotashCorp’s Aurora facility (PCS Phosphate Company, Inc.) yet again did not disappoint them, as they responded with an unprecedented increase in giving. This year’s campaign resulted in a contribution of $121,381. Matching funds from the company brings the final total to $242,762.
Steven Beckel, general manager of PotashCorp-Aurora, expressed his sincere gratitude to the many participating employees and noted, “Because of your generosity, many families in our communities will receive much-needed support.”
“Words fall short in expressing the profound gratitude the Beaufort County United Way and its 20 locally-funded community partners have for PotashCorp-Aurora and its employees for the community investment they make year after year” said Mary Elizabeth McNeill, executive director of the Beaufort County United Way. “PotashCorp-Aurora employees exemplify compassionate leadership in action. And, the outcome of the combined philanthropic efforts clearly demonstrates how finding the balance between business goals and social responsibility benefits the overall community in powerful ways.”
Donations to the Beaufort County United Way support 20 agencies, all of which count on United Way donations to provide assistance and services to the many Beaufort County residents in need.
Lt. Chris Lyles, commanding officer of the Salvation Army states, “PotashCorp-Aurora exemplifies what a community partner should be. Without their contributions and support, it would be extremely difficult for The Salvation Army to meet the needs of our community.”
The PotashCorp-Aurora pledge represents fifty-eight percent of the Beaufort County United Way’s total campaign goal of $420,000.
“The folks at PotashCorp-Aurora have set the highest standards of "giving back" to this community, showing us all what a group of people can do if they set their minds and hearts to it” notes Catherine Partrick of the Beaufort County United Way Board of Directors. “This organization's level of generosity shows their love and commitment to Beaufort County as well as the trust they've put in BCUW to be good and trusted advocates for its partner agencies. May PotashCorp-Aurora and its employees hear our resounding “thank you” for all the ways they make Beaufort County a more resourceful and happier place to live.”
